The Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) has introduced a new investment promotion tagline, “Unlocking Investment Opportunities and Transforming Eswatini,” signaling a renewed push to position the country as an investment destination and strengthen the conversion of trade and business opportunities into actual investment. The new positioning was unveiled by His Majesty during the official opening of the 58th Eswatini International Trade Fair 2026 at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Center, where government, business, and other stakeholders gathered for the annual exhibition.
The change in tagline reflects an attempt to give EIPA a broader platform from which to market Eswatini to domestic, regional, and international investors. Investment promotion agencies play an important role in identifying investment opportunities, facilitating investor entry, and presenting a country’s competitive advantages to potential capital providers. For Eswatini, the effectiveness of this function ultimately depends on whether investment promotion can translate into new businesses, expanded productive capacity, employment, exports, and a wider domestic economic base.

In announcing the new positioning, His Majesty noted that EIPA had previously used a tagline in its day-to-day work and across its international investment promotion activities for a considerable period. The review of the tagline was therefore presented as part of the need for the authority to refresh how it communicates Eswatini’s investment proposition and to create room for new areas of opportunity. His Majesty stated that “it’s been some time that they’ve used that tagline, and it calls now that sometimes we review and change that slogan or tagline to allow them to cover more and new grounds.”
The new tagline places particular emphasis on unlocking investment opportunities, suggesting that the country’s investment promotion efforts should extend beyond simply marketing Eswatini as an investment destination. The commercial significance lies in identifying projects and sectors where capital can be deployed, removing barriers that prevent investment from taking place, and ensuring that opportunities presented to investors can be developed into viable businesses. This places EIPA at an important point in the investment value chain, particularly where investors require information, facilitation, and coordination before committing capital.
His Majesty formally outlined the new direction when he said, “It pleases me to say, finally going forward, the new tagline for EIPA will be ‘unlocking investment opportunities and transforming Eswatini.’” The statement gives the new tagline a wider economic meaning, linking investment attraction directly with transformation rather than treating investment promotion as an end in itself.
The emphasis on transformation is particularly relevant to an economy seeking to expand its productive base and strengthen private-sector participation. New investment can increase the capital available to businesses, introduce technology and skills, create employment, and expand production for both domestic and export markets. However, the economic impact of investment depends on the quality and scale of capital attracted, the sectors in which it is deployed, and the extent to which investment generates linkages with local enterprises.

The announcement also placed the role of the Eswatini International Trade Fair within the broader investment and trade ecosystem. The annual exhibition provides businesses with a platform to display products and services while creating opportunities for commercial engagement between entrepreneurs, investors, government institutions, and other market participants. A stronger investment focus could therefore increase the value of such platforms by moving discussions beyond exhibition and visibility towards partnerships, market access, financing, and investment commitments.
His Majesty recognized the contribution of the institutions and stakeholders involved in making the trade fair possible, specifically acknowledging the Ministry of Commerce and its parastatals, EIPA, the Manzini City Council, and the business community. He said stakeholders had “participated to ensure that the work we see today, including the business community, is one of this great magnitude today.” The acknowledgement underscores the importance of institutional cooperation in creating platforms through which businesses can access markets and investors can identify opportunities.
For EIPA, the new positioning also creates a higher expectation for measurable investment outcomes. A successful investment-promotion strategy is ultimately reflected not only in the number of investors reached but also in the value of investments facilitated, projects that reach financial close, businesses that commence operations, jobs created, exports generated, and the amount of private capital mobilized into productive sectors of the economy.
The unveiling of the tagline, therefore, provides EIPA with an opportunity to sharpen its investment proposition around identifiable projects and commercially viable opportunities. For investors, the value of the new approach will depend on whether “unlocking” translates into easier access to investment information, faster facilitation, clearer regulatory pathways, and a pipeline of opportunities capable of attracting both domestic and foreign capital.

The announcement came as the 58th Eswatini International Trade Fair was officially opened, bringing together business, trade, investment, sport, and entertainment activities under one platform. His Majesty subsequently declared the exhibition officially open, stating, “It is now my singular honor to declare the 58th edition of the Eswatini International Trade Fair 2026 officially opened.”
The introduction of “Unlocking Investment Opportunities and Transforming Eswatini” consequently gives the country’s investment-promotion agenda a new commercial message. The test for EIPA from now on will be whether the new positioning can help move Eswatini from promoting investment opportunities to securing the capital required to develop them, thereby strengthening productive capacity and supporting broader economic transformation.
