His Majesty King Mswati III Receives OPEC Fund President as Eswatini Seeks Stronger Development Financing Ties

His Majesty King Mswati III has received Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, President of the OPEC Fund for International Development, during the Fund president’s visit to Eswatini, in an engagement that highlights the longstanding relationship between the Kingdom and the international development-financing institution.

The audience with His Majesty is part of Dr. Alkhalifa’s visit to Eswatini and provides an opportunity to strengthen further relations and cooperation between the Kingdom and the OPEC Fund. The engagement comes as Eswatini seeks to expand access to development finance to support infrastructure, productive investment, and other strategic priorities.

Finance Minister Neal Rijkenberg also welcomed Dr. Alkhalifa to Eswatini, with discussions focused on strengthening the existing partnership and exploring areas of cooperation with meaningful economic and developmental impact. The engagement places development finance at the center of efforts to identify additional resources that can complement government funding and existing partnerships.

Eswatini continues to require substantial financing for major infrastructure and strategic investments, making institutions such as the OPEC Fund an important potential source of long-term development capital.
